Board-certified since 2008, Dr. Christoforetti's contributions to orthopedic surgery are vast and impactful. Dr. Christoforetti’s unique research and leadership contributions to the field of orthopedics have been recognized by the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (Aircast Award for Clinical Science), the Arthroscopy Association of North America (Master Instructor, Steven Snyder Award for Education), the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy (Society President, 2024). He is a founding of the MASH Studygroup and has authored over 40 original peer-reviewed publications. He has been quoted in The Atlantic and delivered invited lectures in over 10 countries.

A renowned sports medicine physician, Dr. Christoforetti’s patients have included active professional, collegiate, Olympic, and high school athletes as well as adult and adolescent patients who want help continuing to pursue active lifestyles.
He is a member of the Professional Soccer Physician’s Society and served as the team physician for Major League Soccer (FC Dallas: 2019-2023), CONCACAF Gold Cup, SheBelieves Cup, and the FCS National Championship Football Game (’20-’23).
Past team physician roles include Pittsburgh Pirates, MLB; Pittsburgh Riverhounds USL (2012-2019); Washington Wild Things (’07-’08); Colorado Rockies (’06-’07). He is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery for the Drexel University College of Medicine and past leadership roles include Director of the Center for Athlete’s Hip, Texas Health Sports Medicine (2019-2023), Director, Center for Athletic Hip Injury, Allegheny Health Network (2012-2019).
A native of Pittsburgh, he completed undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame and medical school and orthopedic surgery training at Georgetown University, where he served as Chief Resident in 2006. He completed his fellowship training at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas and began the practice of academic orthopedic surgery in Pittsburgh in 2007 where he actively trained over 40 residents and fellows.
In 2019 Dr. Christoforetti’s contributions to the field and service to patients from around the world led to his recruitment to Dallas/Fort Worth where he joined the leadership team at Texas Health Sports Medicine. In 2023 he returned to the mid-Atlantic to join the team of experts at the Maryland Orthopedic Specialists division of the Centers for Advanced Orthopedics.
